We are Thrilled to Share One of Lily Laidlaw Photography’s Wedding Couples’ Love Stories as Well as a Sampling of the Stunning Photos Captured at their Engagement Photography Session!

June in Edmonton is the perfect season for sweet summer engagement photography, and there is no better place to hold a session than in one of the lush river valley parks in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. We scheduled Blenda and Donovan’s Engagement Photography Locations in Edmontonphotography session at Golden Hour to take advantage of the beautiful, warm, soft lighting and had an absolute blast capturing this madly-in-love couple! We include a complimentary engagement session in all of our wedding collections since we believe it is so important to get to know our brides and grooms ahead of their wedding day. Blenda & Donovan’s Love Story

The Beginning:

Donovan and Blenda’s adventure began when they went on their first vacation to Orlando, Florida. This, in addition to a canoe ride on Lake Louise in Alberta, Canada, is among their top memories together. They describe themselves as funny, stylish, playful, adventurous, and nerdy. Blenda and Donovan love sharing their interests with each other, and they never feel like they have to hide anything.

Blenda absolutely loves their long, deep conversations about the music Donovan likes. She also is very interested in going to the comic book stores with him and sharing his love of comics. Even though Blenda is not as passionate about comics as Donovan, she still loves to engage in conversations about the new comics he is following and the authors of those comics. She comments that he always has a way of making these topics easily understood. Donovan is excellent at listening to Blenda’s interests; whether the conversations are about a new Anime that she is fangirling over or a new book that she cannot put down, he is always there to listen and fully dive into the conversation. In addition, he is constantly finding new ways to show his engagement in Blenda’s interests; he sends her articles and tags her in the things he thinks she would be interested in.

Both Blenda and Donovan share a passion for movies. They enjoy Horror, Thriller, Superheroes and Anime films. They both also have an interest in listening to the reviews for new movies and shows. They love to enjoy each other’s interests; even if they are not particularly their own interests, they ensure to be present and attentive to each other and appreciate those subjects together.

Blenda and Donovan never run out of things to share with each other; whether it be the mundane everyday life things, or something more exciting, they always find a way to share in them together. They are best friends and soul mates. 

The Romance:

When Blenda and Donovan had just started dating, she was just beginning her Registered Nursing Degree, and Donovan was studying to become a Correctional Peace Officer. She was serious about school, and Donovan was very understanding of that. They only had a chance to see one another once a week at that time, so Donovan had thought of a romantic solution; he bought a notebook and began to write to her. They exchanged this notebook once a week, during their walks. The notebook went back and forth throughout their relationship. Until recently, the notebook had been forgotten for the last couple of years. Blenda had been asking for a journal entry and bugging Donovan to start up their treasured routine again.

The Wedding Proposal:

Blenda and Donovan would always go for long walks around a pond when they had first started dating. Unfortunately, on their most recent stroll, they had noticed that the pond was no longer there. This made Blenda sad, as it was something they had both treasured. On their most recent walk this year, Donovan had pulled out the notebook that Blenda had been bugging him for. She was so happy that he had finally written in it, and she cried as soon as he handed it to her. When Blenda opened the notebook, she began to cry more. She saw that he had written four pages all about their journey. These pages illustrated how they started out and how they had grown throughout the years. When Blenda was finished reading, she turned around; Donovan was down on one knee behind her with a ring in his hand. 

The Future

Blenda and Donovan are most looking forward to being able to call themselves “Husband and Wife”, sharing their lives together, buying a home, and having a family.
