Haley and Jordan describe themselves as romantic, playful, and adventurous, and to our delight, they certainly are all of those things! They are planning their destination wedding in the world-famous Banff National Park, renowned for its dazzling coloured lakes, majestic mountains, and endless outdoor adventures. As Canada’s first national park, it has a rich heritage as one of the world’s most awe-inspiring mountain destinations. Since we would already be getting incredible mountain photos on their wedding day, we wanted to plan their adventure engagement photo session in a romantic and epic location somewhere in Alberta Canada.  The location we narrowed it down to, was in the Alberta Badlands to capture the spirit of adventure for their engagement session.

The Engagement Photography Session

We arrived right at Golden Hour and began our descent into the canyon. The next time I shoot in the Drumheller area, I will definitely bring my hiking boots as we had to navigate some steep, slippery terrain! Jordan was such a sweet gentleman offering to help us carry gear and Haley’s high heels. He also knew a surprising amount about the area, from the species of birds we saw to the unique flora and fauna. We utilized all of these distinctive elements in our environment to enhance the mood of our adventurous destination engagement session theme, taking engagement ring shots on cacti, wild sage, and on the top of beautifully piled slate rocks. There was just a slight wind, and we were so excited that Haley had chosen to wear a floor-length light-chiffon gown that danced dramatically in the wind!

We were wrapping up our session just as the sun was ducking behind the ridge and then remembered the miniature church called “Drumheller’s Little Church” that we saw on our way to the canyon. We stopped there to get just a few more blue hour shots before calling it a night.

Haley & Jordan’s Backstory

Haley and Jordan met in Ontario while Haley was in school to become a Registered Nurse. Jordan was in the Canadian Armed Forces and has since moved on to school for Power Engineering. 

 When Jordan left the Military and relocated back to Alberta, the couple took five days to drive across Canada. They stopped along the way to take in the sights that each Province had to offer. The couple also took a photo in front of each provincial sign. Haley and Jordan recall that some of their favourite memories of this trip are the romantic dinners in the middle of nowhere.

Another memory they treasure is their impromptu trip to New York City. They spent four days taking in all of the incredible sights and trying to navigate the Subway system; this is where their love for adventurous destinations came to light. 

How Their Story Began and the Romantic Wedding Proposal

Haley and Jordan’s love story began in 2016 and has blossomed into what some people would call a fairy tale. 

Jordan proposed on Haley’s 23rd Birthday while they were overlooking the Petawawa, Ontario golf course. Jordan recorded this moment on his phone to treasure for a lifetime. Who wouldn’t want to relive that moment?! So romantic!

The Attraction

Anyone who sees Haley and Jordan’s engagement photos will instantly see how in love these two are. Their connection and personalities emanate from them.

Haley recalls what drew her to Jordan, describing him as romantic, outgoing, goal-driven, intelligent and thoughtful. She loves his personality and how he helped to bring out her personality as well. 

Jordan loves Haley’s strong ambition in her life goals, as well as her willingness to strive for her achievements. He also loves how her personality radiates and is full of passion and love.

Happily Ever After

Haley and Jordan enjoy going on random excursions, boating, and taking their dogs (Whiskey, a Shiba Inu, and Oscar, a Daschund) for long walks.

A Rocky Mountain Wedding in Banff, Alberta

In addition to capturing their adventure destination engagement photography session in Alberta, Canada, in the Autumn of 2022, we are excited to photograph Haley and Jordan’s beautiful destination Rocky Mountain Wedding in Banff, Alberta. Their wedding ceremony will be at St. Mary’s Parish, with the reception at the Banff Park Lodge. Haley and Jordan are most looking forward to their future together and starting a family.
